Dear Students and Parents,
I hope you are enjoying the last few days of the summer. It has been a great opportunity for me to learn more about the Green Mountain State and what summer is really about: nighttime fires under a clear sky, hiking mountain trails that seem to never end, and realizing maple syrup makes everything better. What an ideal summer vacation! Although the plethora of ice cream stands here in Vermont can make anyone smile, the most enjoyable experience I have had this summer is preparing for the 2016-2017 school year.
We have spent the better part of our summer building relationships with several individuals from the Rochester community as well as our surrounding communities. These partnerships provided us the opportunity to revive our facilities and grounds, restructure our operations and establish a foundation, culturally and academically, that will support our school mission: Rochester School will provide students with the opportunity to discover, inquire, and develop the skills necessary to pursue lifelong learning in an ever-changing, environmentally and globally-aware society.
Now we are ready to add the most important components: our students, parents and families. Without you, we are just a building with shiny clean floors, newly painted walls and furniture reconfigured to fit spaces that have been redesigned. It is you, the Rocket Family, who makes the building come alive. Your passion, commitment, laughter, curiosity and energy cannot be manufactured. Because of this, we are anxiously awaiting your arrival!
So, as you take advantage of these last few days to sleep in, play with friends, stay up late and bask in the sun, rest easy knowing your second home, the Rochester School, is ready for your return. We have utilized social media to extend our lines of communication. You can find us by accessing our school website at http://www.rochesterschoolvt.org/, as well as finding us on Facebook (Rochester K-12 School VT) and Twitter (@RocketK12VT). We are also enclosing a few items of importance to better assist you as you get ready for August 31.
As always, if you have any questions, concerns, ideas, or just want to stop in and say hello, my door is always open. I hope you have great weekend and I look forward to seeing you next week.
Ms. Stamm, Principal
